Victor R Potenciano Medical Center

THIS HOSPITAL neither looks after the needs of the poor and under privileged nor does it care what becomes of their patient. And I say this based on my experience.

My sister was admitted to this hospital on
June 10th 2009 with
abdominal pains. She was admitted and assigned 3 doctors: An OBGYN, A SURGEON and her ATTENDING PHYSICIAN. They required to do ultra sound, whole abdominal ultra sound and when the results came out inconclusive, they required a CT SCAN.

I readily consented thinking that they knew what was best for my sister. So they did the CT SCAN WITH ABSTRACT. But then after that, they asked for another PLAIN CT SCAN. Now, shouldn’t a
Php16,000.00 CT SCAN with abstract have been more conclusive than the PLAIN CT SCAN of Php8,000.00?

Still, I did not question these doctors, as I had decided to give them my TRUST that they knew what they were doing.

They then informed me that my sister might have to undergo surgery. By Saturday morning however, they still could not give me a definite diagnosis for my sister’s condition. Sunday afternoon, Dr. Novoa, the surgeon assigned to my sister's
case cleared her saying she did not need a surgery after all.

I asked my cousin to get the bill
(I could not go as often as I could to the hospital because I work a night shift; my sister has no job) , and was ASTOUNDED at the accumulated charges. By Sunday, June 14 her bill was running a whooping P80,000.00, exclusive of doctor’s fee. That would have been equivalent to a full caesarian section operation at MAKATI MED.

Needless to say, I almost fainted. My sister did not even have surgery. How could her bill reach such amount? Now you can understand why I wanted to get my sister out of the hospital as soon as possible. WE ARE NOT RICH. And though my sister and I both have health cards, the cards would only pay a certain fixed amount and not the total bill.

Today is
June 17th. Seven days since being admitted, my sister is still at the hospital, still undiagnosed, with a staggering hospital bill of Php120,000.00, exclusive of doctor’s fee. Why??? Because her attending physician, a certain Dr J. Roxas, could not sign her release form. When I asked the hospital staff about her, they claimed that her mother died and she couldn't come to work because she is attending to that at the moment. I understand that and I feel for her, but shouldn’t she have endorsed her patients to the next available doctor? What if there was an emergency, what if she was on leave for a whole month - would my sister have to be stuck in this hospital for an entire month, all the while her bills keep mounting???

To VRPMC, is this what you mean by “the hospital that cares?” You might want to take a good second look at your mission statement and explain it thoroughly to your attending doctors and your staff.

  1. Hello I had a similar experience. I was so shocked. Lahat ng kilos nakareflect sa running bill, that werent even explained to us. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. I feel so helpless and manipulated. Im so scared they are mosnters!!

  2. Same experience here. I was rushed to their Emergency Dept. because I was having abdominal pain for 2 days already. The doctors don't seem to know what they're doing because they concluded that it's just Hyperacidity without any lab tests. I was only given Antacid and after waiting for 2 hours, I decided to just go home since I thought it's just a simple "hyperacidity" but the pain didn't subside until that night, I decided to go back. I told them I want to be admitted and it took them 3 days to learn that I was having gallstone attack. I told the doctor that I want to have it removed but she insisted on just giving me medications so that once I experience the attack again, she'd charge me again.

  3. I would not recommend Dr Cheng at VRP Medical Center as she overcharges for her consulation fees.

  5. this is so sad but true...money comes first for them. do not recommend vrpmc to your relatives and friends, they will let you pay for unecessary tests and will ignore the results for you to take other tests. they have an admit all policy now just to pay for the land adjacent to the building which the hospital just both. horrible

    1. If she has miscarriage. She needed to undergo d&c procedure. The payment is not for the ward itself. But the procedure done to her plus the use of delivery room and doctors fee. All hosptal needs dp unless youre in public.

  13. I have been cheated on by this hospital. They are full of frauds especially the nurses on the patient's floor.I was released today because super kulet ko talaga ma discharge. My mistake is that I did not thoroughly checked the list of items billed before payment. I waited to be home before I checked the bill. They billed me twice for a medicine that was only given once and billed me for a wrist splint that I never used. I have my own wrist splint that I bought from my previous confinement in another hospital.Nurses have no concept of patient care. One nurse has no idea how to inset an IV that she used my hand as a live pin cushion. Another nurse changed my IV drip bag and threw the cap to my bed instead of throwing in garbage bin. Nurse doing night rounds is logging the BP/Temperature/Pulse result on a 1/4 sheet of bond paper instead of patient's charts. What if she interchange the results. Well, if you want good bed side manner and courteous hospital staff, you pay for it by going to Makati Med. If you don't have the money, tiisin mo ang VRP Medical Center.

  15. San kaya natin puede i escalate tong issue na to sa VRP... actually yung sister ko nag hysterectomy sa kanila under Dra.Mangalindan tapos few hours after ng surgery from recovery room nagkaron urine leakage sister ko sabu normal lang daw pero hanggang maka uwi may leak pa din 3 months sya naka catheter and yung leak naging fistula meaning hindi naghilom yung napunit sa bladder ini endorse nila ate ko sa PGH under charity ward pero..sabi ng OB normal daw yung ganung risk or complication kaya wala syang liability sa ate ko.
Until now hindi pa naooperahan sister.. nakakalungkot kc nagbayad ka mahigit 170k sa operation tapos pag may disgrasya or back job sa charity ka ipapasok

  16. I recently resigned sa work ko so hnd na active ung HMO ko. I was having sinus headache and the pain was excruciating so pmunta ako sa VRP. She asked me questions about sa pain and whatnot. So I waited for another 40 minutes just to find out na tuturukan ako ng mga paracetamol at kung ano pang ibang gamot via IV worth 5.8k pesos. What!???? Sabi ko wala akong dalang cash. So medyo nagalit yung nurse sabi need ko magsign ng waiver. After 20mins tinawag ulit ako sabi if kaya ko magbayad ng oral nalang worth 1.4k pesos. Sabi ko NO! Wow! Nawala sakit ng ulo ko. Natawa nalang ako. AHAHAHA

  21. I'm 55-year-old from Paris, I was diagnosed with second-stage liver cancer following a scheduled examination to monitor liver cirrhosis. I had lost a lot of weight. A CT scan revealed three tumors; one in the center of my liver in damaged tissue and two in healthy portions of my liver. No chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment was prescribed due to my age, the number of liver tumors. One month following my diagnosis I began taking 12 (350 point) Salvestrol supplements per day, commensurate with my body weight. This comprised six Salvestrol Shield (350 point) capsules and six Salvestrol Gold (350 point) capsules, spread through the day by taking two of each capsule after each main meal. This level of Salvestrol supplementation (4,000 points per day) was maintained for four months. In addition, I began a program of breathing exercises, chi exercises, meditation, stretching and stress avoidance. Due to the variety of conditions that I suffered from, I received ongoing medical examinations. Eleven months after commencing Salvestrol supplementation But all invalid so I keep searching for a herbal cure online that how I came across a testimony appreciating Dr Itua on how he cured her HIV/Herpes, I contacted him through email he listed above, Dr Itua sent me his herbal medicine for cancer to drink for two weeks to cure I paid him for the delivering then I received my herbal medicine and drank it for two weeks and I was cured until now I'm all clear of cancer, I will advise you to contact Dr Itua Herbal Center On Email...drituaherbalcenter@gmail.com.
